The only way for Labour to rocuperate the situation Is one that is anathema to the parliamentary Labour Party: thar is to cocoarage the develop ment of independent working class action, as tbe Clay Cross councillors tried to do Liberal demagogy represents a real threat to the working class movement. It can only be effectively countered by organising tenants, claimants and housewives quite independently of the bourgeois State for militant, extra parliamentary action against the deterioration of living standards and other expressions of the capitalist crisis.
